I don’t have children but I am a woman of a certain age (44) which means I often pee when I sneeze. It’s great. I love it.

Just kidding. But I do love your comics! What a beautiful way to capture the adventure of being human. 😆

And I love Helen Oxenbury. Funnily enough, I have that biography about her on my bed stand right now. Got it from the library after dreaming about it. It’s just fantastic.

As an aside, after you’ve read Helen’s work, if you don’t already know and love the Ahlbergs- writer Allen, illustrator Janet and daughter Jessica (who also became an amazing illustrator)- I think you’ll really enjoy them.

omg WE'RE GOING ON A BEAR HUNT was read to me every single day of my childhood at least once — texted the fun fact about the king and his men to my dad the moment i read it <3

Omg that makes so much sense you were raised on that magical book!!! I can’t believe I’d never heard of it!

What a wonderful coincidence! I just got my three year old Oh Dear, Look What I Got! for Valentine’s Day and not only is it such a fun read, but it reminded me how much I love Oxenbury! Highly recommend the book, and so tickled to be on the same artist wavelength.☺️

That IS the most romantic story of middle age 🏆🏆 (also the marketing on those packages kills me! Everybody looks like they just stepped out of the gym and hair salon: “No body weirdness here, just tip top sexiness!” Ahhhh, marketing. The lies we tell ourselves to stay sane in these human bodies…) Happy your editor knew gold when she saw it but very sorry you’ve been put through paces like this 🩲

Going on a Bear Hunt was one of my favorites as a kid, looking forward to checking out the others for my little guy!

We had several Helen Oxenbury books in our house growing up and I always loved them, thanks for the reminder of her work! Two other classics for my family were John Burningham's books Avocado Baby and Mr. Gumpy's Outing. So good.

We just got Mr. Gumpy's outing! My favorite little tid-bit I learned in the Helen Oxenbury 'Life in Illustration' book is that she and John each insisted the other was the better artist, which I thought was so sweet.

Ugh when R draws with me it makes me feel like my heart is going to explode! Babies drawing with drawing mamas is magic.
