Hourly Comics Day 2026
I drew a comic for my every waking hour on February 8th
Hourly Comics Day was last week! I’m normally fast but this year I drew my comics fast, even for me. Like truly scribbled most of them out in 30 seconds. I appreciate that the task of HCD - draw a journal comic every waking hour of your day – asks us to be loose, have fun and let go.
Interested in making your own journal comics? I’m teaching a micro-memoir retreat in Spain this fall, along with award-winning authors Molly Wizenberg and Nadine Kenney Johnstone! Read all about it here and sign up here.
Now, on to my hourlies:
Thanks for being here,
❤️ Hal
Notes:
Tiny True Stories: A Micro Memoir Retreat and my newsletter about the retreat.
My hourly comics were drawn with the Kuretake Bimoji Brush Pen - Fine
Best Lowly Worm Book Ever - Max & Nora are obsessed and chant Lowleh! Lowleh! at bedtime every night.
The Epstein Files Book Club podcast by Elise Hu and Jena Freidman. I love both these women and this pod is a good way to dip in and stay informed without being swallowed by a rabbit hole of darkness.
A nice thing to do: Call your representatives and beg them to stop one of the many, many evil things the government is doing.
Read hourly comics from: Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell, Debi Gliori, Emily Fishman, Marnie Galloway, Claire Keane, ND Stevenson, Vera Brogsol and Lucy Knisely

so so good! it's shocking and inspiring to me that you drew some of these in 30 seconds, they all communicate sooo much. also seeing a weight loss commercial and peacing out is hilarious and exactly what we did, except in our case it was that bizarre government-funded mike tyson 'eat real food' nonsense
This is amazing stuff, Hallie, and I can't imagine how anybody can do this around these obligations. But you do so - and it makes me feel that I can do more with my comic strip around what I have on my plate, which doesn't have kids on it! Thank you!
